Modeling Processes and Process Groups in the Standard View
This section deals with the textual modeling of processes and process groups without the use of graphical tools. The elements are structured by assigning parent objects.
To illustrate this, the following section of a process map is considered.
The "Production" and "Development" process groups are assigned to the value-added processes in terms of content. In order to also take this into account in the enterprise model, the process group "Value-added processes" serves as the parent object of the groups "Production" and "Development".
The "Manufacturing" process group is in turn the parent object of the "Pre-Sales", "Realization" and "After Sales" processes assigned to it.
A process can also be broken down into several individual objects. Quam distinguishes between the following objects:
- EVENT - an event that can occur during a process and represents the start and end point of a process. This can be, for example, a customer request or the occurrence of a specific situation.
- BPMN TASK - an activity performed within a process.
- GATEWAY - a decision point within a process.
- CONNECTOR - To link the tasks, events and branches with each other, connections must still be defined. These are modelled in the quam using relationships that have a unique start and end point (source and sink).
To assign these objects uniquely to a process, the corresponding process must also be specified here as the parent object.
In order to link TASKS, EVENTS and GATEWAYS within a process, CONNECTORS are used in which the start and destination points can be specified during modeling and thus uniquely assigned as you will see later.
