Operational Structure (Glossary Quam 5.3)

The operational structure describes everything a company "does", i.e. processes describe how the elements of the organisational structure interact in order to achieve a certain output.

The basis of the operational structure is the question:

WHAT and HOW does WHO, WHERE, with which RESOURCES, according to which RULES and with which AIM

WHO:

The organizational unit, e.g. a department or a specific employee as the person responsible for the task and/or responsibility.

WHAT:

The process (often referred to in quality management as a procedural instruction) or the task in refining the process (often referred to in quality management as a work instruction).

RESOURCES:

The applied systems (e.g. an ERP system such as SAP or Navision), forms to be used, attachments, etc. that are part of the organizational structure.

HOW:

The individual work steps that are the contents of the task description.

WHAT RULES:

The normative requirements for the execution of a process or task. The requirements must be differentiated into external requirements such as laws and regulations and internal requirements such as quality management, environmental management, occupational safety or management regulations.
